Elmhurst High School is a public 4-year high school with a comprehensive intake of over 900 students. The school is located at 3829 Sand Point Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809-1830. Elmhurst is part of the Fort Wayne Community Schools district. Accredited from the Indiana Department of Education and the north Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
History
Dating back to 1931, Elmhurst High School has had nine principals, including three female principals.
Elmhurst has a rich tradition of Musicians. We annually host an ISSMA Jazz Fest. Back in the era of jazz, many big jazz names came to perform at Elmhurst. Among them were: Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, and many others.
Sports & Clubs
Elmhurst's athletic department consists of more than twenty IHSAA sports including the following: baseball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. Some clubs include: campus life, choir, creative writing, band, dance, DECA, French, indoor guard, marching band, National Honor Society, orchestra, robotics, science, show choir, Spanish, speech, theatre and drama, wind ensemble, and winter drum line.
